Toad in The Hole

Can be served with baked beans or steamed vegetables.

  • 8 Sausages
  • 100 grams Plain Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 pint Milk
  • 1 Onion
  • 20 grams Gravy Granules
  • 280 ml Boiling Water


  • Cook sausages in the oven in a baking tray for 10 minutes at 220⁰c.
  •  Make up the pouring batter by adding plain flour, egg, salt and milk and stirring with a wooden spoon until the flour is worked. Then whisking it together to a single cream consistency.
  • Pour the batter over the sausages and cook for a further 30 mins.
  • Serve with an onion gravy made by frying a chopped onion until translucent adding gravy granules and boiling water and allow to thicken.
